Premier Evaporative Cooling Media is a "Rigid Cooling Media" which is a generic term used to identify the newest type of evaporative cooling media. There are several manufacturers of this type media in the United States, India, China and others. This type media was originally manufactured by Munters, Corp., and identified as CELdek(tm) . The original patent expired several years ago and since then several other manufacturers produce a similar media with comparable performance.
In order to assure that only the highest performance and
consistent quality is maintained, Premier Industries, Inc., maintains a large
supply of this media and markets it as "Premier Cooling
Media". This media has been tested by Premier for highest
efficiency and quality. Performance characteristics of Premier Cooling
Media must be the best available to complement our extensive line of "high-end"
evaporative cooling equipment.
Rigid Media is constructed from a cellulose material with a chemical
constituency of rigidifying saturants and anti-rot salts. The media shall have a
minimum of 123 square feet of evaporative surface area per cubic foot. The media
shall be configured with alternating transverse flutes of 45 degrees aligned upwards in
the direction of air flow and 15 degree flutes aligned downwards in the direction of air
flow. The media shall perform at a minimum of 89% saturation efficiency at an air
velocity of 500 feet per minute in 12" thickness.
The 45/15 degree alternating flute arrangement will facilitate water flow introduced across the top of the media to flow downwards through the 45 degree flutes to the face of the media where the oncoming air flow will force the water back into the media to assist in full saturation of the media. Major air flow travels through the 15 degree flutes.

The user of this media should consider these three (3) critical factors; Quality, Cooling Efficiency and Size. Premier Cooling Media is tested to assure all three factors are provided in the media you buy from us.
Poor quality
results in one or more undesirable
features. Splitting off of individual sheets causing gaps, foul odor, poor
wetting patterns and possible shortened lifespan.
Cooling efficiency
can be reduced by poor paper quality and
construction.
Size control is important to assure a tight bank of media
without gaps. The various manufacturers produce Rigid Cooling Media in blocks
(or logs) 12” wide (face) (p/m ¼”) x 12” deep x standard heights of 48”, 60” and
72”. Premier stocks media in 78” heights (lengths) as well for special
applications and 24” deep to enable cutting to odd depths.
The width
tolerance is plus or minus ¼” therefore each block can range from 11-3/4” to
12-1/4” wide. An example would be that 4 blocks of media could have a 1” gap if
all 4 blocks were 11-3/4” wide or having to cut off 1” of the width if the media
was oversized.
Media
should be ordered in "banks" whenever possible to assure proper sizing rather
than by number of individual 12" wide pieces.
Proper method of measuring media:

Width Height

Depth
We prefer to provide the correct size required whether it means cutting a piece of media or adding a cut piece to make up the full bank needed.
Even though Premier does not manufacture the media, we stock and distribute dependable media to meet the customers need.
